Airdrawn (2009)

Airdrawn is an interactive installation that allows you to draw in 3D. A 3d position sensor registers your gestures and, via special software, transforms them into a three-dimensional object. This model can then be printed out with a 3D printer.

The production of objects is done via 3D imprinting (stereo lithography), which makes use of a laser and a light-sensitive plastic fluid (photopolymer). In a tub filled with this fluid, the laser heats precisely those points specified by the computer for the creation of the particular object. In this way, the piece is produced layer by layer.

Airdrawn is an Ars Electronica Futurelab project. Javier Lloret worked on this project as part of Ars Electronica Futurelab.
